About
Early Beginnings
I’ve been taking pictures avidly since before the age of 12. That’s when a family friend helped me pick out a range finder 35mm camera from a pawn shop. I wore that camera almost all the time taking pictures for the junior high school newspaper and then for the newspaper and yearbook throughout high school. Much of my work then was black and white and I did all of my own film and print processing making a bathroom in our home into a darkroom on a regular basis. Many hours were spent learning and exploring all aspects of the photographic creative process.

People as Subjects
I love to take portraits of people. People have always been my favorite subjects. I enjoy capturing natural candid moments and have learned to create enduring moments that pass the test of time.
Country Barn Studio and Farm Settings
Soon I will also have a barn studio at our country home near Germantown, Ohio. In addition to the barn studio I plan to build landscaped areas for beautiful outdoor settings on our property, but I also have sessions with families, children, and high school seniors at their homes, farms, and at the various metro parks throughout the city (Cox Arboretum for example).
Horse and Owner Portraits (and other animals)
As you look through this web site you will see many portraits involving horses. I am an experienced equine photographer and have been a member of the Equine Photographers Network for many years. This is something that grew out of the fact that my wife an daughter ride horses and we have horses here at our farm. When I have sessions with horses, my biggest and most exciting challenge is to capture the relationship of the horse and ride. A photographer who does not have experience and knowledge about horses will not know how to photograph them in a way that makes them look best for their particular breed. If you have a horse and you want a portrait of your horse or with your horse, then it is important to choose someone with experience in that specialty.
Relationships
When I have photography sessions with families and children the challenge is to capture relationship between the people. Even with senior portrait sessions, I welcome people to bring their close friend to capture memories of someone significant in their lives.
Continuously Learning
Like many photographers, I consider photography a continual learning process. I am a member of the Professional Photographers of Ohio (PPO) and I am an officer of the Professional Photographers of SW Ohio (PPSO). I frequently participate in learning opportunities in both organizations to improve my work for my clients.

Having a good time during your session
Photography sessions should not make you feel stiff and uncomfortable. My goal in any session that I photograph is to help the person being photographed to relax and have a great time. If you see something that you like in the images that you see on this web site, then I am the right photographer for you. Whenever you hire a photographer, if you can learn more about them and see some of their work and say, “I really like his style”, then that is the photographer you want to hire. Personally, I am not satisfied unless you are happy with your session and the resulting images. Therefore my sessions are money back satisfaction guaranteed.
